Righto its time for me personally to settle on a server, faction and char or three :)
Today the cloning should be done so its decision time for me :)
Headhunters are a nice bunch but id hoped Rev,Max,butcher and Lister would be involved.
I know and understand yas want away from queues, same here hence why i rolled on order so i could actually get into the game.
I realise Max,Rev and butcher have rolled order and progressed a bit past level 1 :)
Ive been more or less toying with both sides of order and destruction, seem to prefer destruction.

Are you lads interested in a guild at all? - Yes i am ,rvr is a lot better with a guild,in this respect a guild is a big plus for me.

What side would yas like to play for? - Destruction for me

Would yas like a dark keep guild or join another guild? -

dont mind joining boards or headhunters [if they would have us :)], a DK guild would be nice but is that a lot of organising?

Well I'd be on for a guild.

My plan is to play destruction, I'd intended to try it out once the servers where cloned.

My preference is for small informal guilds, I'm not into large raids, much prefer small groups for PvP (think the way I play my warg in lotro and you'll understand my prefered play style)

As for my preference, I'm easy either way as long as we're on the same server. tbh I'm not that bothered about joining either the headhunters (don't know them) and the boards lot. Both groups are seem sound, but truth be told I'd prefer to be outside of them.

How many people do we need to form a guild ? I'm sure we could rob an additional person or two to form it if the others are game.

I think it is 6 people needed to form.

If we stay destruction and make our own small invite only Dark keep guild can we go with eight peaks server or its cloned server?
Maybe the cloned as its a win win situation,we get to keep chars on eight peaks aswell as new on cloned.
I have a few chars on there with my highest at rank 17 so id like to keep them.

The plan was always to go with 8peaks.
Personally I'd say give it a week see how the servers are and make a decision then. I'm assuming the queues on 8 peaks will have died down by then.

Yeah once queues are sorted we can get going.

I think I'd like the best of both worlds. I'd prefer a Darkkeep Order Guild and roll destruction with either Boards or HH

Your Order guys are on same server as boards destruction server though?

yep.

Since we seem to be more casual gamers than hardcore lets make an order guild on our current order server too?

ButcherOfNog

Sounds like a plan, I've not got around to playing destruction yet

Maximilian
25-09-2008, 08:53 PM
ok well we need two more peeps and all of us to be on together to make a guild

Cully

Best of both worlds is a good idea.

Ive deleted my order chars on azgal so i can roll destruction on azgal with boards lads with an alt.
BUT i get to keep them order chars on the cloned server :)

Sounds like a plan.

So anyone have a strong preference for which server to with for the destruction side? I'm easy either way.

Cully
26-09-2008, 11:39 AM
Well i have 3-4 destruction guys lvl 8-17 on 8 peaks.
Ill roll 1 or 2 on azgal with boardsies server too.
Nothing stopping us rolling on same server as boards as destruction, that way if our guild takes flight well and good,if not we have the option of boards guild.

queues on 8 peaks seem fine now... at peak time on friday evening there was only a 15 minute queue which I think is a small price to pay to play on a server that actually has people to pvp with and do PQs with. Most of the day now it seems there's 0 queue.

Well I was playing a good bit on 8 peaks today and the queues seemed fined during the day, but have risen to half an hour this evening which is still to long in my book.

I'm willing to wait a few days more but if it hasn't settled down by the end of the week I think I'll be rolling a destruction character elsewhere and playing that as my main.

I must say I love the shamen, most fun of the characters I've played to date.

How about we all try and play as a group some time and do some RvR.
I'd suggest this Tuesday at around 8:30pm, we can try the 8 peaks, but if there's a queue of more than 10 minutes I'll be suggesting order on Azgal.

Or perhaps we should just bite the bullet here and now and pick a low/med destruction server and go with that ?

Thoughts on a postcard...

Right I've rolled a new shaman (Morkazork) on Tor Anroc, which is where I'll be playing most I suspect from now on.

So we still going to try and do a order guild or just take it as it comes ?

Cully

Shaman is awesome, have one on azgal,8 peaks i just need a home to settle on.

Cully

I deffo want to stay destruction for now, the queue on azgla and 8 peaks were insane tonight,i got no war in this day at all :(
Might go to my shaman on tor anroc.

you big liar cully, you were on all afternoon!

anyway he's right, the queues were back up to pre cloning size tonight, totally sucks.

BUT, all the servers with a decent number of order on have destruction queues. This is a PvP game, is there any point joining a server where you've no one to fight? That's basically what will happen if you roll destruction on a server with order at medium or lower... One thing a few in head hunters are doing is logging on when they get home, to get in the queue, then going to do dinner/spend time with family/watch porn while they wait. A couple of them are using vnc to log on remotely from work before they leave even. I know this is not what a 'casual' gamer should have to do, but I honestly believe rolling on a server with medium order is just not going to be fun to play... I guess what i'm saying is there's no point complaining about queues, and then going to a server with nothing to do. I've heard from others on a server with a relatively low order population that the scenario queues are like 30 minutes (compared to just about instant on eight peaks)

On another note, Noel and I were playing on azgal (order side) tonight (monday), I'm quite liking the archmage. Noel's char is Manindress and mine is Moonbeam.

Both sides of Anroc seem balanced, certainly a lot more than the queue-tastic ones on azgal and 8 peaks with their destruction zergs.

Yes its not jam packed but neither is it empty. That said I haven't actually tried the PvP on but I think the numbers are there to have good fights.

I'd certainly recommend it to you Max and Noel if you'd actually like to play the destruction side. I'm certainly on for an evening of it tonight if anyone fancies teaming up, I'm sure cully will be there for one and I'll try and rope blister in as well.

tbh I think its nuts going to the lengths of using a remote desktop to a game so you can queue to play it, its meant to be fun not some life commitment where you have to prepare an hour or more before you actually sit down and play the game hoping you aren't disconnected or anyone calls

you big liar cully, you were on all afternoon!

Yeah i popped on for about 10 mins then let my little lad roam around in a pq, i did get another 20 min session before dinner i recall.

I joined rev lastnight but got absolutely no scenarios in the whole hour i was on :( i love levelling up via scenarios when im not on for questing.
PQs were empty and i just felt lonely, yes i had no queue at peak times but it just didnt feel right when i got on.

I usually join a queue, set my little lad up on xbox 360 or wii beside my pc on my other monitor, then he calls me when my char is logged in :)

Its worth mentioning that i used the find party option for Pq i found nobody in the whole zone in any form of group :(,i moved on to marshes of madness as i just hit lvl 10 here again i found absolutely nobody :(
rvr and a lot of PQs need a decent amount of players.

Ok, getting disconnected is no longer a problem, there's a timeout now they patched in on monday. Means that you can now change character or crash without having to requeue. It's not like its a full hour of preparation, it just means a tiny bit of planning! It's not like you have to sit at your PC for that hour or anything like that. Even if you crash while in the queue when you get back online again it gives you back your same spot in the queue so you don't have to start from scratch again. Of course one problem with this now is it's making the initial queue longer because people arent timing out so quickly.

This is what i'm saying rev, if the world is empty whats the point of playing? SO much of the game is rvr and public quests. Yes, you can just solo quest for your exp, but it's nowhere near the same fun.

I hear what you're saying I'm just not listening naaah naaah naaah :p

I'd agree that if you're focusing on the PvP side of things its not a good setup, but I have my order toons for that. The simple fact is I get home and have maybe an hour at the most to play there and then, more like 20 minutes.
Then later on I have another 1 to 2 hours depending on if I'm minding sadhbh. Queueing for an hour just isn't going to work.

Now I'm pretty sure that the queues will die down in time, but for now its just not practical.
