I'm actually quite surprised at those combat odds. Once they are softened up by artillery, you'd think it'd be more or less 50-50 given the drill promotions aren't supposed to work in defense. I'm lucky to see 20%.

Aaarrrrggggg. it asking for your password Blitz. You need to delete the save addressed to me from your saves/pbem/hightland directory, finish the turn again to recreate it and upload it again.

Ideally soon because I need to see what Justice has done this turn and I feel like I've been waiting a week already!

(This problem occurs if you finish the same turn twice and overwrite the original save, it seems to corrupt it.)

I'm happy to give up at this point. I had been playing for third for a while, and had been confident of fending off BB, but the invasion of my second island put paid to that. I had thought I was doing well to finally take my first island back, but then I spotted those fleets off my coast.....

I'd be happy to start a new game and hope not to make so many mistakes this time around. Might do some work on custom maps in the next couple of days.

To be fair Blitz, you were not exactly blessed with your start!

I favour random maps tbh, it takes something away when everybody knows the layout before hand, even as it adds balance. Randomness is part of the spice!

i am curious to see how far behind i was in the space race, tash reckons its two turns till he launches. it would be more like ten turns for me.

damn i thought i had this game, so i definately tip my hat to him cause he pulled it out of the bag as far as i am concerned. i'd put that down to better stratic planning and use of corporations.
plus i'll give nog a nod and say he made it hard for me at a critical time in the game.

overall though, an enjoyable game.

And my score ranks me as good as King Henry VIII !? That's a bit of a suck-in. That's late starts for you, I fancy Caesar Augustus would have been pressed to play that well.

97 hours of gameplay. 80 of those I think were spent deploying 20 zeppelins to the same reconnaissance routes every turn, ever watchful for unicorns, enemy armada's and other figments of my imagination.

Just as with Nog's game before it, victory here rested heavily on the shoulders of an economy driven by Statue of Liberty/Mercantalism/Representation plus help from Mining Inc/Sid's Sushi to give my cities the equivalent of perhaps 10 extra citizens per city in food, science and production.

I was lucky to catch Max out and secure a large island to myself very early (really early looking at the replay) with all the strategic resources I needed, even if it skimped a bit on health and luxuries. Thankfully I seemed to be the only one to know my only Aluminum for the whole game was outside a frosty city in the Northern tundra. It was as exposed as Justice's oil.

Honourable mention to Three Gorges dam, which accounts for the giant leap in my MFG rating. And I love Cristo Redentor though the fact I didn't have Pentagon locked me in the otherwise useless Vassalage civic for much of the late game.
