Old School Game Night

Post by Rev Hellfire »

Now that we have the use of a server for a short while, how do people feel about having a game night some night this weekend ?
Didn't pick it for it ping, Civ 4 doesn't have a need for low pings but I think we should be ok either way.

We could stick up a battlefield Vietnam, ETQW or something else up for an evening?
And a mumble server to chat/gloat over ?

Actually how about an evening of Counter-Strike Source, I'm assuming we all have that.

great idea. I'm away for the weekend though.

I wonder if I still have Quake 2 knocking around...

Then how about some night next week ?

I've installed counterstrike source and I'll get quake2 up and running as well then.
There's also a Tekkit (Minecraft) server running on it at the moment, its currently infested with the kids from the neighbourhood.

You can connect to that using fun.darkkeep.com

So what night would suit people.

It's a good idea, found Q2 sitting in e:\Games on my PC, ran it, it worked. Quakelive would be an option too.

I'd have CS Source on Steam, probably not up to date but can fix that easy enough.

Have BF Vietnam installed I think as I played a bit of that online a few nights last Christmas.

Any older RTS games we all have?

Right to move this a little forward I've set up the following for us to try:

Mumble Server running on civ4.darkkeep.com, the password is oldschool
Quake 2 server running on fun.darkkeep.com
Counter Strike:Source server running on fun.darkkeep.com

So how about settling on a evening to play a few games, would Sunday work for people.
we could also try Thursday(7th) as a mid-week day.

Since monitors have moved on a bit since the quake2, if you're looking to get full-screen you'll need an updated client or the q2-widescreen mod (which I've included in this post)

That was a good laugh last-night.
Since the weekend didn't suit people anyone on for trying it again this week?
How about either Tuesday night or Thursday night ?

Another player or two would be great, I'm sure Nog got tired of kicking my ass :)

I should be able to do Thursday, have the other PC setup with Q2 now, so I've no doubt someone else in the house will join in too.
